Burning Man 2010 budget:

Tickets:  $US 295  (full price, can get cheaper)
Flights to San Fran:   $AU 1350 - $2250
(they were $1350 a few weeks ago to get there this year, amazingly cheap, but count on them being $2K+)
Getting there from SFO: $US100-400 for sharing a car or something.  Could do it cheaper though.
A couple of nights in SF on the way: $US150-200
Buying food, and loads of cool stuff in Height and Ashbury: $US200-300
A couple of nights somewhere on the way back: US$ 150-200

Total:  $AU 2500 to 4000  depending mostly on flights.
And how many things you buy in those awesome shops in Height n Ashbury.

Which, given that at the moment there is 491 days to go, thats from $5.00 to $8.00 that you need to save per day between now and then.
So no more cappucinos!  No more bubble tea! Take your lunch to work instead of buying it, and you could be on your way!

To all you hunters who kill animals for food, shame on you. You ought to go to the store and buy the meat that was made there, where no animals were harmed.

Maybe there's someway we could fundraise to get everyone there.  That would be nice.

YAY!!!  Dance  Alright Clap in the Air Dance
So are we driving or RV-ing? If we're driving a trailer might be nice after our 06 effort with the mini van
Who's definitely coming?
Who want's to come but will decide later (when we twist your arm a bit Evil Laugh)?
Should we look at options like flying into SF and out of vegas so we see something different?

I better stop asking questions before I get too excited!

Hmmm.  Lotsa options.
I am all for an RV again.  Even if its just me, Rich, Lois I think we'll get a little RV. After spending the whiteouts inside, I lthink its worth it. Might be a couple of other non-fire-twirling friends coming too.  Plus another who only has to get down from Vancouver.
Yeah Rich might come - if craiggles or muggins come he will.

I just plugged numbers into the ING savings calculator, and if you opened an account with them and put $300 in it now, and then $50 a week for 16 months (69 weeks) you would end up with $3861.  I might do that, just so that I have in my mind that that is dedicated BM money and then there can be no excuses.

HSBC has a no-fees, internet-only high-interest savings account - it's impossible to impulse buy with the proceeds, as you must transfer money from the savings account through to your regular nominated account, which takes a couple of days. Also great for saving.
